We are a home-based learning service that you can expect your child to feel welcome in, have great social interaction with staff and peers, and receive ongoing academic and individualized support. Though we are open to all learners, we specialize in working with children on the autism spectrum and those who are challenged learners. Our true "at your own pace" concept has been a great approach to developing students' independence and engagement in their learning, without the pressure of keeping up with their schoolmates. At EXpectrum, we incorporate a "mixed" method of learning. Although our microschool is in person, at learning time, some students will learn via laptop and online curriculum and others will have in-person/physical lessons. The physical lessons are typically for struggling students and younger students, while the online approach is reserved for those who are at or above grade level and older students. Either way, we will assist them in-person with everything needed to complete and submit assignments in a consistent and structured manner. If there is a subject or skill that your child lacks or has a weakness in, we will teach them! This makes for a truly "at your own pace" and multi-level learning atmosphere.
We understand that each child has different learning needs and families have different schedules. That's why we offer flexible options that promote consistency and growth but also works with your family's daily demands.
You can choose a 2-day, 3-day, or 4-day plan ...whichever works best!
Currently, we have all grades in the 9:30-1pm block, however, if needed, we will be implementing a grade split and adding 11:30-2:30 for 1st-3rd grade.
Many parents need structure for their children, but patience and care is also at the top of the list. Though we are a microschool, there is a homestyle atmosphere we like to keep. With this, students can feel at ease and typically learn better. At EXpectrum, kindness, respect, and cooperation are expectations for everyone, even the staff. Moreover, interdependence is necessary and independence is a prime goal. It all helps to develop a stronger sense of self but opens an awareness of the needs of others as well. Though we have a laid-back atmosphere, expectations of productivity and success are always modeled and encouraged for the best results and experiences possible.
At Expectrum, we offer a variety of special classes that strengthen learners' abilities, social connection, and other areas that may need to be developed or cultivated. Alongside of the importance of academic learning, is the importance of social interaction, play, exploration and much more. All offerings are included in the cost for services. We're small, but we do big things! Each quarter we have a class field trip. The outings are not always academically centered. However, it gives the students a chance to hangout and socialize outside of their school element. Volunteering is optional and we never want to pressure parents to participate, but we encourage parents to be a part of the adventure. If you'd like to sign up to assist on field trips or for classroom help, please let us know.
Motivational Monday is the last Monday of every month and is free to all EXpectrum students. This allows them to enjoy a movie and popcorn, with no schoolwork involved. On Motivation Mondays, the expectation is to simply...chill!
The fee is $45/day for the 4-day option, $55/day for the 3-day option, or $60/day for the 2-day option. Aside from the parent chosen curriculum, all classes, supplies, materials, equipment, etc. for academics and specials classes are provided. We also provide tablets for use, if needed. With all the extras included and quality service we provide, you may not find a more sensible and cost-effective option.
We accept payments via ESA and private pay. You may also combine payment types that best suit your situation. What is ESA? If you're unsure, click the tab below to find out more.
